888poker has introduced an innovative new feature to their software this week in the form of a ‘Web Cam Mode.’
The poker room, which has also added support for larger lobbies this month, believes the addition will improve the social aspect of online poker.
“We believe that real poker is not just about winning money, but it is about the thrill, the fun, the excitement and the social poker experience.”
“Online poker has been traditionally focused on the ‘money making’ element – we felt there is no reason why online poker should not enable players to meet, socialize and play together.”
The unique Pokercam tables will allow players to see other players when they face off at the cash game and tournament tables.
This will add another dimension to the strategic element of the game as players will begin to pick up on their opponent’s tells.
888Holdings Director of Poker Offering, Hili Shakked, admitted the feature had been in development for some time.
“I am thrilled to offer this innovative and fun feature. It has been almost a year in the making and we are delighted at the result.”
888 has also introduced a ‘Team Tournament’ function where players will be able to join virtual teams and compete in regular tournaments for a share of the jackpot.
