Filippo, born and raised in Sardinia, Italy, found poker at the age of 21. His numerous exploits in the various Italian series’ led him to the WSOP- where he finished fourth, collecting big winnings along the way.
#4 Michael Mizrachi, $4,017,044
Michael was originally intended to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a doctor. However, his natural knack for gambling paid off big time after he dropped out to pursue a career as a professional player. He took a win in event #2 of the 41st series of the WSOP on the way to a cool $4 million win overall.
#3 Joseph Cheong, $4,161,113
Joseph was born in Seoul, South Korea, but his family moved to America when he was only 6 years old. He majored in economics and mathematics as well as psychology- certainly contributing factors to his big winnings in the 2010 WSOP.
#2 John Racener, $5,587,113
John ‘J Money’ Racener at the age of 25 took the second highest winnings in the 2010 WSOP, winning one event along the way. He’s been a pro all his adult life, saying on his event win that ‘I needed the money because I don’t work!’
#1 Jonathan Duhamel, $8,987,310
Duhamel is another young player making a big break into the scene. The 2010 WSOP was the first WSOP he was legally allowed to enter, having been playing for six years mostly online beforehand. He also plays online at PokerStars under the screen name ‘johnduhamel’.
