Jose ‘Girah’ Macedo is reported to be facing severe consequences for his part in the external super-user scandal which rocked online poker a fortnight ago after Lock Poker revealed that they are pursuing legal action against the teenager.
Supposedly, Macedo lost his position as a member of the Lock Poker Elite Pro Elite team earlier this month following allegations and a subsequent admission that he had scammed players who had taken part in a Skype Strategy group. Macedo also had his account banned permanently.
Lock Poker are reported to have revealed that the lawsuit will be filed in the coming months though the details have not been finalized. Eric Lynch, Room Manager for Lock Poker, made a statement on behalf of the popular poker room on the TwoPlusTwo forums.
“We do realize that ongoing silence can lead to people jumping to conclusions. What happened goes against the very core of our player based philosophy and we intend on exercising our legal rights in the most severe degree. We will keep you updated as things progress.”
Macedo first hit the headlines in February after recounting his remarkable story of spinning a small deposit into seven figures at the online cash game tables. However, his time with Lock Poker was littered with scandals. ‘Girah’ was disqualified from the Bluff Pro Challenge in April for multi-accounting.
The scandal has also seen the poker community question the integrity of Macedo’s close friends Dan ‘jungleman12′ Cates and Haseeb Qureshi. Cates admitted to playing under various aliases on European poker sites last week while Qureshi lost his job as a CardRunners Instructor after he also admitted to multi-accounting.
