Poker player Sefula Seji has been arrested after he was apparently caught marking cards at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Authorities at the casino became suspicious after inspecting cards during a daily routine review late last week.

The 43 year-old had allegedly used a piece of sandpaper to mark the cards according to their strength.

Casino staff caught Seji after initially narrowing down their search to one specific table.

Security footage from Friday afternoon’s play was then examined with Seji being outlined as the most likely culprit.

The tale took a further twist when Seji returned to the casino the next day ready to employ his sandpaper technique again.

He was eventually spotted dragging his finger down the back of cards and was arrested just under an hour later.

The deck involved was found to have 39 marked cards and a later search of Seji revealed that he had numerous pieces of sandpaper within a container.

Seji’s most recent cash in live tournament play came in the World Series of Poker Circuit Event at Atlantic City last month.

Seji took down a $4,526 share for his top 30 finish. He has won over $9,000 in total during his career.

The Oak Ridge, New Jersey native is now behind bars at the Northampton County Prison after being charged with engaging in prohibited acts.
