After last week’s League events, there is a new leader on the $10,000 PokerStars PokerNews League leaderboard.

Last week, ”GioPN” took down the victory and the 21 league points to ensure that he would now sit firmly atop the leaderboard.

It took just two events for ”GioPN” to climb the rankings. After consistent results in four events, ”AJEI” sits in second place, tied with “plstrider.”

If you think it’s too late to start accumulating enough points to make your way up the leaderboard, think again as a wild card tournament opportunity gives players the chance to earn double league points in a chosen event. Double points means a player could potentially earn 42 points in one week, which would give them enough to soar up the top of the leaderboard.

To choose a wild-card event, players need to announce it prior to the start of the chosen event in the dedicated forum thread.

It is the PokerNews League Final that all the players are aiming to the qualify for and only the top 27 on the league leaderboard will secure a spot in the final on Dec. 21 at 2100 EST (0200 GMT).

The top 18 finishers in the final will win a share of the generous $10,000 which is in place for the final. See below for a breakdown of how the final is going to payout the eventual winners.
