The much anticipated Poker After Dark $100,000 Freezeout came to a conclusion on Friday as a selection of the world’s greatest poker players competed for a $600,000 jackpot.
Eight-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Ivey was joined by high stakes cash game sensation Tom Dwan, John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Phil Galfond and Huck Seed on one of the most decorated tables in PAD history.
Juanda saw his hopes end early after jamming all in for $14,000 with Ah-Qc. Dwan and Ivey called him down.
Dwan paired up on the Jh-5d-8c flop and bet out for $18,000. Ivey mucked his cards. The river and turn were of no use to Juanda as Dwan’s fives held up to end his participation.
Lindgren was the next player to head for the exit door after meeting Dwan’s move all in with pocket eights. Dwan flipped over A-10 and a 5c-10h-2c-3d-Qs board sent the California native home.
Dwan continued to wreak havoc as his eagerness to engage in almost every hand proved Galfond’s downfall. Galfond called on his last chips hoping for a bluff from Dwan but the 24 year old tabled top pair to set up a three handed battle for the first prize.
Seed had gone under the radar during the exchanges up to this point but he made his mark with the key elimination of the dangerous Dwan.
Dwan moved all in after Seed had raised to 12,500 with As-6c. Dwan’s Qh-Jc failed to up as a Ah-Ks-Kc-Js-5s board completed a higher two pair for Seed, leaving only the 41 year old and the renowned Ivey in the running for the jackpot.
Seed did not have to wait long to claim the top prize after only three hands of heads up play. Seed jammed all in with pocket eights and was met by Ivey who flipped over pocket sixes.
The board drew air for both players and Huck Seed took down the $600,000 winner takes all first prize.
