If you were looking for the day’s top poker news stories, then you’ve come to the right place. We’ll tell you which online poker site has decided to leave the U.S. (if you haven’t figured it out from the title), some interesting news regarding Full Tilt Poker, and more.

In Case You Missed It

Even though New Jersey Sen. Raymond Lesniak didn’t get his first Internet poker bill passed by Gov. Chris Christie the first time, he didn’t back down. On Thursday, Sen. Lesniak reintroduced his Internet gaming bill.

Last week, we introduced our new podcast series, Strategy with Kristy. In our latest edition, you can find part two of her interview with Andrew Seidman where they discuss nuts-versus-air ratios and more.

The latest Global Poker Index rankings were released Thursday and there weren’t really any changes in the top 10. There were however, some players who found their way onto the GPI rankings this week, and they include Humberto Brenes, Matt Affleck, Keven Stammen, and more.

On Thursday, the World Poker Tour held a press conference prior to the kick off of Legends of Poker event at the Bicycle Casino. A number of changes were announced for Season X including live-streaming of final tables and more.

Another One Bites the Dust

In a press release issued Thursday, Poker Pros Network announced it recently moved its URL to PPNpoker.eu to comply with U.S. legislation. It also said it would be leaving the Cake Network and moving to a proprietary network in the near future. Also, on Aug. 31, PPNpoker.eu will no longer accept new registrations from players in the U.S. Players who registered for accounts prior to the separation will be granted an exemption.

“We here at PPN are dedicated to improving our software, creating a safe environment for players to compete, and encouraging our pros to be available to customers at all stake levels,” said PPN Poker owner Chuck Kidd. “It’s been a lot of work, but what we’re introducing later this year should turn the online poker industry on its head.”

According to the press release, PPN Poker plans on releasing “unique proprietary software” with new features including live dealers and dealers’ choice games in the fall.

Full Tilt Poker

If it’s not one thing with Full Tilt Poker, it’s another. On Thursday, Harry Demetriou made a post on the Full Tilt Poker Chatter Containment thread on TwoPlusTwo. He discusses the deals that were in place for Full Tilt after Black Friday including the one Phil Ivey allegedly set up and one that is speculated to have come from Jack Binion.

“Unfortunately the way things stand at present FTP are not really addressing the specific problems they need to address in order to get back up and running. If they don’t do that soon, and I doubt they will, they will die a complete death and I think its now almost inevitable that this will happen as they are beyond salvation as they really are not focusing on the right areas to facilitate a recovery,” he wrote.

While he feels that way about Full Tilt Poker, he also believes FTP is “genuinely trying to sort this mess out which they are overwhelmingly and predominantly responsible for creating.” In the post, he says no dividends have been paid out to owners and that shareholders will receive nothing from the sale of Full Tilt.

A few pages later, a post was made by “solongdue,” who we can only discern as being an ex-Full Tilt employee. He decided to describe his experience “within the walls of Pocket Kings/Full Tilt Poker.” He discussed the head of human resources , Caroline Lynch, and others and even the food service in the office.

Bellagio Bandit Gets More Time

On Thursday, the Bellagio Bandit (or OceanSpray25), Anthony Carleo was sentenced for robbing both the Suncoast casino and Bellagio. He will serve between nine to 27 years, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

“I’m completely ashamed of myself,” Carleo said before being sentenced. “I’m not a lost cause, though. I know I can turn my life around.”

For the Suncoast robbery, Carleo was sentenced to six to 16 years by District Judge Michael Villani. Carleo’s attorney tried to get the sentences for the Suncoast and Bellagio robbery’s to run concurrent but the judge disregarded the appeal.

On Tuesday, Carleo was sentenced to three to 11 years for the Bellagio robbery.

On top of his sentences, Carleo will have to pay restitution for both robberies. He’ll have to pay $18,945 to the Suncoast, but the Bellagio restitution is yet to be determined. According to Assistant District Attorney Chris Owens, the police have not yet recovered $793,000 of the $1.5 million Carleo stole.

Record Broken

A little over a week ago, we told you about the Delaware Park Poker Room and its attempt at setting a Guinness World Record. The poker room hosted a $500 buy-in poker tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000 and was trying to hold the longest continuous poker tournament.

According to a recent press release, the Delaware Park Poker Room didn’t exactly get its Guinness World Record, but it did set a new world record for Longest “Documented” Continuous Poker Tournament. The tournament lasted 31 hours and 58 minutes, but fell short of the 36-hour Guinness Record benchmark.

“At one point, there were 177 people streaming the live video and 1,700 people following the live updates through www.twoplustwo.com, in addition to the 40+ people in the crowd around the final table,” said poker-room manager Kevin Castora.

“We are constantly trying to innovate the game of poker by creating new and exciting events. I want our players to always feel welcome and be a part of special events such as this,” Castora said. “Although extremely fatigued, the players never lost their good spirits, which made for a positive atmosphere throughout the entire event.”

The total prize pool reached $182,360 and Hieu Tran of Essex, Maryland took home the lion’s share of $43,761 for outlasting the entire 376-player field.

On Sunday night, the ninth season of the World Poker Tour continued with the Legends of Poker from the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. This was one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year and was aptly named after having the likes of Doyle Brunson and Dan Harrington, both Poker Hall of Famers, take down the title in the past. Three of the six final players had made a WPT final table in the past, but all six were looking for their first taste of WPT glory. Here is how things looked at the top of the broadcast.

Final Table
Seat 1: Jared Jaffe (1,006,000)
Seat 2: Kyle Wilson (2,854,000)
Seat 3: Tom Lee (2,915,000)
Seat 4: Franco Brunetti (800,000)
Seat 5: Andy Frankenberger (3,015,000)
Seat 6: Tom Braband (968,000)

Prelude: The broadcast got under way with footage showing Kathy Liebert being awarded the first-ever “WPT 100 Chip” for playing in this, her 100th WPT event. Along with Liebert, the field included former WPT Player-of-the-Year recipients Erick Lindgren, Jonathan Little, and Faraz Jaka, with the latter being eliminated within the first two hour. However, that is neither here nor there because we were down to final table action.

First Hand: With the blinds at 10,000/20,000 and a 3,000 ante, Tom Lee rasied to 50,000 with World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I and was called by both Andy Frankenberger and Tom Braband. The flop came World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I, which all players checked. The dealer then burned and turned the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I, giving Lee trips. Braband, the short stack, was first to act and fired out 91,000 with his World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I. Lee came over the top for 340,000, Frankenberger folded, and Braband laid down his two pair. First blood went to Lee.

Kings Lead to a Double: Andy Frankenberger raised to 60,000 on the button with World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I and was smooth-called by the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I of Braband in the small blind. It was heads up to the flop, which came down World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I, hitting Frankenberger’s jack but keeping Braband in the lead. It went check, bet 150,000, all in for 399,000 more, and a call. The World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I on the turn ended an suspense and the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I was put out on the river for good measure. Braband doubled to 1,266,000 on the hand.

Jaffe’s Turn: Action folded to Braband on the button and he raised to 75,000 with World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I. Jared Jaffe was in the small blind and moved all in for 655,000 with World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I. After the big blind folded, Braband made the call. Jaffe was in a dominating position and stayed as the board ran out World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I. Jaffe doubled to 1,358,000 while Braband’s was once again on the short stack.

Pocket Rockets: Kyle Wilson picked up World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I and raised to 70,000, which was called by Jaffe. The World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I flop was no help to anyone as both players checked. When the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I hit the turn, Jaffe check-raised Wilson’s 150,000 bet to 350,000. Wilson did a little acting before moving all in, which would cost Jaffe all of his chips to call. Instead, he decided to preserve what he had and conceded the hand to Wilson.

Sick River: Holding World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I, Tom Braband raised to 75,000 from early position and received a single call from Franco Brunetti, who held World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I, in the big blind. The flop fell World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I and Brunetti check-called a bet of 80,000 from Braband. It turned out to be a wise choice for him as the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I spiked on the turn. Brunetti wasted little time in leading out for 155,000, Braband moved all in, and Brunetti quickly called. Braband had picked the wrong spot to bluff it seemed, that is until the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I peeled off on the river. Braband had hit his straight to double to 1,295,000.

The Raw Deal: Tony Dunst joined the broadcast with his segment, The Raw Deal, and talked about Tom Braband’s previous hand. Dunst respects Braband as a player, but highly criticized his play in the previous hand, especially on the turn. Dunst was simply saying what most viewers were likely already thinking.

Brunetti Eliminated in Sixth Place: In the next hand, Franco Brunetti was all-in preflop for his last 220,000 and called by Kyle Wilson.

Brunetti: World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I
Wilson: World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I

Brunetti was ahead but not after the flop came down World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I. Wilson had hit a pair of sixes and stayed in the lead when the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I hit the turn followed by the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I on the river. Brunetti, who got in the tournament by a satellite, was eliminated in sixth place and received $63,000 for his efforts.

Jaffe Next to Go: Tom Braband put in a raise to 100,000 with World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part Ion the button and received calls from Jaffe in the small blind and Wilson in the big. The World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I flop inspired all three players to check and the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I was put out on the turn. Jaffe, who held World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I, checked to Wilson, who held trip sevens with his World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part IWorld Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I and bet 200,000. Braband made the call and Jaffe decided to move all in for 620,000. Wilson made the easy call as Braband got out of the way. Jaffe needed a jack on the river but it was not meant to be as the World Poker Tour: Legends of Poker - Part I hit. Jaffe became the fifth-place finisher and took home $83,000.

Four Remain: Down to four players, Part I of the Legends of Poker came to an end. The tournament will conclude in next week’s broadcast, so check your local listings. For those who can’t watch, PokerNews will be sure to recap all the big hands, fast action, and eliminations on the way to the newest WPT Legends of Poker champion.
