Leading UK poker pros dominated the 2011 European Poker Awards in Paris on Sunday.
Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree was named as ‘Europe’s Leading Lady’ following her superb triumph in the €5,000 PokerStars European Poker Tour San Remo Main Event last April.
22 year-old Jake Cody took home two awards. The young Brit picked up the ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Player of the Year’ gongs after a superb year on the live tournament scene.
Cody won the €5,000 PokerStars EPT Deauville for a $1,213,194 pay day in January 2010 before taking down the £5,000 World Poker Tour London Main Event. Cody added $425,492 to his bankroll for that victory.
James Bord pipped PokerStars EPT London champion David Vamplew to the ‘Oustanding Tournament Performance’ award for his deep run in the 2010 World Series of Poker London Main Event.
29 year-old Bord bested an elite field at the Casino at the Empire for a $1,281,048 first prize.
Team PokerStars Pro Viktor ‘Isildur1′ Blom had been favorite to lift the ‘Internet Player of the Year’ award but Norway’s Andreas Torbergsen took home that honor. Pot Limit Omaha specialist Torbergsen won over $4 million on the virtual felt last year.
Tony Guoga (Rob Memorial Award for the Poker Personality of 2010) and Gerard Serra Retamero (Poker Staff Person of the Year) were the other big winners in the French capital.
