Multi World Series of Poker winner Huck Seed earned a staggering $670,665 earlier this week after hitting the jackpot playing a game of video poker in California.
Seed, who took down the WSOP $10,000 Main Event in Las Vegas sixteen years ago for a $1 million first prize, revealed the news on social networking site, Twitter. The 42 year-old later attached a picture of his crowning moment alongside the caption, “Internet poker is down in the US. But I’m still pushing buttons!”
It marks a welcome lucky break for a poker pro who struggled to make an impact in the 58 gold bracelet event series this summer. Seed bought into 23 tournaments, at a cost of over $200,000, without managing to ride the money bubble.
Though Seed failed to cash in live tournament play this year, he has still amassed over $5 million during a career which now spans three decades. His most recent victory came in the WSOP $1 Million Tournament of Champions just over twelve months ago. Seed earned $500,000 for that triumph.
His $670,000 success playing video poker would rank as the second biggest score on his resume, trumping the huge sums he earned for his WSOP bracelet wins in $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha, $1,500 Razz and $5,000 Razz events.
Seed will be hoping his ‘royal flush’ winning hand marks a change in fortune as he attempts to bounce back from his woes at the Rio Suite Hotel and Casino and dominate live events once more.

FSN continued its coverage of Season IX of the World Poker Tour at the weekend with action from the showpiece World Championship. The $25,000 event, which featured Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu and Eugene Katchalov, played out at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event champion Galen Hall led the way at the final table of six. The poker pro locked horns with Farzad Bonyadi during one of the first hands of the episode after calling down a pre-flop shove with A-10. Bonyadi had Hall crushed with A-A and the board offered no help as Bonyadi doubled through to 2.33 million chips.
Bonyadi then picked off a triple barreled bluff from Roger Teska. Teska fired 125,000, 350,000 and 650,000 bets post-flop with complete air but could not force his opponent off a top pair of Kings. Bonyadi snared the 2.76 million pot.
Justin Young was the first player to depart after running his A-J into Hall’s A-K. Young had insta-called a pre-flop shove from Hall but could not find any salvation on the 4-3-5-10-6 board as he collected a $225,654 share for his 6th placed finish.
Tony Gargano joined Young on the rail during the final hand of the episode. The dominant Scott Seiver called down a 2,020,000 shove from Gargano with A-K. Gargano only had a 30 percent chance to remain alive with K-J and failed to connect with the A-3-8-6-4 board as he landed a $278,749 sum for his deep run.
