Team PokerStars Pros Liv Boeree and Vicky Coren are among the names who have been nominated for a 2011 British Poker Award, it was announced at the weekend.
The second annual British poker Awards are set to take place during the ‘Poker in the Park’ festival at Hanover Square in London in September where those in attendance will celebrate the many successes of the ‘Brit pack.’
2011 World Series of Poker bracelet winners Jake Cody and Matt Perrins feature in the ‘Best Tournament Player’ and ‘Best Mixed Game Player’ sections respectively while Sam Trickett gets nods in the ‘Best Cash Game Player,’ ‘Best Tournament Player’ and ‘Best Social Media User’ categories.
Trickett will be up against Boeree and Coren in the ‘Best Social Media User’ category while the two leading ladies in British poker will also do battle with Kara Scott, Luke Schwartz and Roland de Wolfe for the ‘Poker Personality of the Year’ award.
Team PokerStars Pros Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier and Jason Mercier lead the voting in the Best International Player. The prolific Erik Seidel, three time 2011 WSOP runner-up Phil Hellmuth and online high stakes cash game sensation, Tom Dwan, also feature on that list.
“This isn’t about self-congratulatory back-slapping. It’s about honoring the players who have done us so proud on the world stage,” Bluff Europe Editor Philip Conneller said on the poker awards website where poker fans can now cast their votes.
