Straight Flush
The highest value hand in poker is the straight flush. A straight flush consists of a sequence of five cards of the same suit. When multiple competitors at the table have a straight flush, the player with the winning and dominant hand is determined by the player with the highest finishing card of the straight.
Four of a Kind
Quite simply, the player has four of the same rank card in your hand. Aces are high when this hand (and most other hands) is played.
Full House
In poker a full house is a hand that includes a three of a kind and a pair only. When two full houses have been dealt, the highest three of a kind will determine the winning hand.
Flush
All cards in the hand are of the same suit. Flushes are named after the highest ranked card in the hand. If two players in the same hand have flushes with the same high card, the players whose next highest card will be what determines the victor.
Straight
A straight consists of five consecutive cards. The hand is named after the highest card, for example a straight which goes from 6 to 10 will be a 10 high straight.
Three of a Kind
A hand that has three matching cards i.e. three Kings is known as three of a kind. In community games, where it is possible for two players to have the same three cards, the value of the whole cards is used to find the winner.
Two Pair
This is a hand which contains two unrelated pairs. The highest ranked pair is used to determine the winner of the hand.
A Pair
The lowest actual hand will just contain a pair. The highest ranked pair around the table determines the winner.
